Giving Thanks with CityHarvest

The UNIS community donated 2400 pounds of food to City Harvest, which will feed over 100 hungry New Yorkers for a week. This year we put a particular emphasis on minimizing waste while feeding the hungry, and encouraged everyone to start with their own pantries and donate what was not likely to be used. Another new addition to our drive was a collection of toiletry items for the Homeless Outreach Program at the Manhattan Church of Christ. The toiletry response was overwhelming, with UNIS donating 6 large boxes of soaps, shampoos, etc.! These items will be bagged by UNIS student volunteers and delivered to MCC so Homeless Outreach program may distribute the bags at their upcoming Holiday meal.

The Food & Toiletry Drive is a big effort at UNIS, and the co-chairs would like to thank everyone who participated by donating goods and/or volunteering their time. We'd like to give a special shout out to: TH and MS Student Volunteers * JS Student Council * Frank Sorrentini and Isaac Sosa in the Mailroom * Ed Peppe and the Maintenance Staff * Michelle Bertrand * Karen Ager * JS PA Coordinators
